Breakthrough in Hydrogen Energy Heavy Truck Technology: CA6HV3 Cylinder Direct Injection Hydrogen Engine Debuts Worldwide

In December 2024, FAW Jiefang released the first domestic heavy-duty commercial vehicle cylinder direct injection hydrogen engine CA6HV3, with a maximum power of 460 horsepower and a peak torque of 2100 Newton meters. It can use 90% pure grey hydrogen to achieve zero carbon emissions. The engine has solved the problem of hydrogen corrosion on metals through anti hydrogen embrittlement materials and coating technology, and has completed over 20000 kilometers of verification on J6V Tractor. The liquid hydrogen fuel electric tractor launched at the same time has a range of over 1000 kilometers and a weight reduction of 15%, becoming a zero carbon new choice in the field of mainline logistics. At present, Jiefang has developed 17 hydrogen powered vehicles in 6 major categories, covering scenarios such as traction, Cargo transportation, and self unloading, with plans to achieve large-scale operation by 2025.
